Florence, Italy

Thanks to Istituto Tecnico Agrario di Firenze, a new and interesting horticultural laboratory has begun, with participants with Down Syndrome engaged in lectures and practical exercises to learn how to take care of gardens. To encourage a real process of inclusion, the students of the Institute will also attend to the workshops and the Associazione Cooperativa Scolastica “Ortisti per caso” which, since 2016, works to experience new methods of sustainable cultivation and to promote youth entrepreneurship by involving students in initiatives designed to encourage their professional integration.

During the first lesson, in addition to visiting the greenhouses and other spaces made available by the Institute for carrying out the activities, the boys worked in the seedbed, decanting seedlings of beans and spinach and watering pepper plants.

Many thanks to Istituto Tecnico Agrario di Firenze, their teachers, the ACS “Ortisti per caso”. Many thanks to all operators involved in workshops.
